Starting from midway to the top, a 500m climb from Horsehoof Station woolshed, and loop return, via farm tracks

Starting from the Horsehoof Stn woolshed (off SH 87 above Outram), hike up to the radio mast at the north end of the Maungatua Range, a climb of 500 metres. After admiring the 360° degree views, return by farm tracks. A total distance of 12km.
Because you go at your own pace, pausing to take photos and admire the view as you wish, is suitable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness.
From the woolshed, hike up through farm paddocks
and then a track through the tussock
to arrive a radio mast overlooking the Taieri
With spectacular views across to Saddle Hill
and west to the Lammermoors and Rock & Pillars
Before looping back via an easy farm track

Coffee & Chou
There will be a coffee caravan on site for that caffeine fix before your hike.
And why not plan to sojourn down to the cycle finish in Grainger Rd after your hike, where there will be coffee, icecream, and food trucks for some more vital sustenance while you mingle with the cyclists and compare notes on your experiences?

Location
The start is at Horsehoof Station woolshed, 8km above Outram on SH87. Just look for someone in a high viz vest on the left at the turn in off SH87Tickets
On line tickets are now closed.
BUT, you can still purchase on the day - just be at the start location by 9,45am`.Support
There will be support vehicles with radio coms stationed at key locations on the climb to the radio tower.
Most of the route has good cell coverage.
Conditions of Participation
You agree that the Rotary Club of Taieri, its members, event marshals, and the property owners, are indemnified against any loss that may occur by participating in this event
You agree to obey all instructions given by event marshals
You will receive a full ticket refund if the weather or other unforeseen occurrence means the event can not proceed as planned, or the deferred date does not suit
