Two options

Contour Option

A 12km hike through the tussocks at the base of the Rock & Pillar Range, then ford the Sutton Stream, and return to the start past the magnificent rock outcrops that make The Burgan such a unique environment.

A real adventure hike for those who want an opportunity to go somewhere different

Climb Option

Hike across the base of the Rock & Pillar range before heading up a zigzag trail through the tussock for spectacular views of the plains below, and hills in the distance.
Climb the 600 metres to the top for a view of the Loganburn reservoir to the west, or turn around at any point for the downhill stroll back to the start point.

An opportunity to traverse some spectacular and varied country.

Some example photos of the country you will be traversing

Both hiking groups will initially follow the cyclist route across the base of the Rock & Pillar range

An example of the rock outcrops you will pass

The contour option involves fording the Sutton stream (twice)

A unique feature of The Burgan Run is the 600 metre long rock outcrop looking like an ancient dinosaur spine
